Mali mixed Farm

Enhancing nature for prosperity

Mali Group BACKGROUND

Mali mixed farm cultivates a clear-eyed approach to farming in hand with a hospitality that provides one with a comfortable sense of place. Mali mixed farm was born in 1994 and was established in fond memory of the late Farasio Malingumu, a towering personality whose belief it was that mixed farming was key to wealth creation. The farm is located at Katigondo village, Kalungu sub-county, Masaka district discreetly tailing off Masaka-Mbarara highway.

Again, in June 2007 we decided to hitch the revelation of mixed farming to the wagon of enlightenment. We thus opened up a training and demonstration center from whence youth and adults from across Uganda and abroad could acquire life skills, learn about mixed farming and appreciate a life in the sticks. To this end, our technical hands weave threads of guidance and learning that suit the designs of our clients.

VISION

To ensure the socio-economic empowerment of young farmers beyond borders and across beliefs

MISSION

To arm our youth with an arsenal of skills that will help them manfully confront socio-professional challenges while developing a cast-iron appreciation for appropriate farming methods.

MALI MIXED FARM PROJECT ACTIVITIES

  • Guided tours to enable one obtain a front seat in observing the workings of a fish farm, a dairy bull section, a layers and broiler poultry farm, a piggery unit, a tree nursery and sustainable crop production section.
  • Experiential learning as we walk one through the ins and outs of the mixed farming reality;
  • The village bull scheme improves upon the genetic coding of our bulls as is much in the interest of community members who cannot afford artificial insemination for their cows in hopes of acquiring superior breeds;
  • A follow up on Mali mixed farm trainees so as to assess, support and, if need arises, boost their projects so that they make hay out of our expert tutelage;
  • Our community leaning agriculture programme trumpets loudly farmers’ agro-produce under the Mali mixed farm imprint, at exceedingly competitive prices;

TRAINING

We place a premium on a specialized knowledge in the context of mixed farming agriculture. By the turn of that screw, we encourage the cross-pollination and integration of farm projects. Areas such as animal husbandry, appropriate technology, animal welfare and sustainable agriculture in all their socio-economic finery are spread out across the syllabi. And the extent of this learning is done within the pale of the welcome needs of our clients.

MODERNIZATION OF AGRICULTURE

Mali mixed farm intends to plough back profits by helping farmers plough forward in the spirit of improved methods of farming. We are bent on having an agricultural reality that makes the most out pre-existing resources by maximizing their use while improving on their quality. Animal husbandry and crop production, it’s true, can be bolstered in a manner in line with efficiency, quality and proficiency all in the envelope of a cheaper cost. For example, one can use a single cow to do the work of several if that cow is of a superior breed and is genetically engineered towards the profit motive and away from the peasant modes of farming that lend the exclamation mark to subsistence farming. The focal lens at Mali is trained on the commercial nature of farming so that our farmers line their pockets while airbrushing off the cobwebs of outdated farm practice.
