Every so often Destiny’s Child fulfills its own destiny. And that is the story of Rwanda , a country that fought its corner and found its destiny.
And from the dark underbelly of discord and death, a nation is emerging with the will and purpose of its resilient people.
Citizens FM seeks to capture the essence of this emergence while appealing to the informational needs of Ugandans of Rwandese extraction (Banyarwanda).
In an increasingly segmented market, several ethnic groupings have had their interests aired on the Ugandan airwaves.
While the interests of Banyarwanda are still gasping for airtime; Citizens FM is a radio station whose purport and goal is to end this state of affairs.
The Banyarwanda are a diverse ethnic grouping in Uganda and enjoying the benefits of a rested citizenry.
However, they still retain the customs, practices and language that carve them out in particular as distinct from other ethnic groupings in Uganda .
This identity is bubbling under with expressions, humor, thoughts, feelings, which are overflowing with educative and entertainment value. To ignore them would be to abbreviate the diversity of what Uganda culture has to offer, not only over the air but in life, too.
All the Kinyarwanda folklores, songs, proverbs and other stripes of soulful expression will leave the backwaters of Ugandan consciousness and play center stage with Citizens FM.
Our radio is however not ethnically exclusive nor is it hedged off from the rest of the Ugandan public, no. We believe this to be self-evident based on the reality that the Banyarwanda are an integral part of Uganda .
Thus Citizens FM will merely highlight this inclusiveness under the broad notion of what defines Uganda .
Citizens FM is primarily of a music and information format and will notch up the very best of what the millions of Banyarwanda in Uganda have to offer to the great nation of Uganda .
Our music announcers will serve the best fun and games, left or right of the dial. They will carry out a depth charge that will blow all competitions in this area right out of the still waters of FM entertainment.
 
Vision

The ethno-cultural integration of Banyarwanda community in Uganda
 
Mission
 
To create a platform for the culture, views, beliefs and passions of the Banyarwanda community in Uganda . This will enable them to ford the sea of ethnic diversity in Uganda and contribute variety of form to the same waters.
 
 
 
Specific goals 

• Adding cultural dimension to the wealth of tribes in Uganda . This will create less suspicion and more understanding as the Banyarwanda viewpoint and identity is brought out into the arena of public opinion;
• Contributing to the economic development of Uganda by putting more views of national concern on the agenda;
• Promoting further East African federation with particular respect to Rwanda by serving as a receptacle of the Rwandese personality in view of the Ugandan context;
• Citizens FM seeks to further promote patriotism in line with the Ugandan spirit. This can be done with active participation of all segments of Uganda society in recognition that our society is a plural make up different types of persons and ethnicities;
• To provide entertainment and information in a fashion allied to the best traditions of radio broadcasting so as to also provide value to our listener and raise the bar for media professionalism in Uganda .

 
 
Citizens FM will be broadcast across the country and will be brought to Uganda in mainly in Kinyarwanda and English languages.
